![]() Lapa Rios Costa Rica is a Mecca for the ecologically minded travellers, From mountain rain forests to white beaches and coral reefs, nearly 28% of its area is protected. Their national parks and wildlife refuges are world-renowned. There is at least 850 colorfull birds' species in Costa Rica. We have especially appreciate the beauty of the South Pacific Coast. At the extreme end of the Corcovado Peninsula, lie a wonderfull eco-lodge, managed by a spirited american couple... ![]() Monkey Lapas Rios was built by John and Karen Lewis as a private nature reserve. John and Karen left all their belonging in Minesota to come here, finance and build a small travel resort, surrounded by the last remaining low land rain forest in Costa Rica.
Today the future of this natural reserve is preserved by a conservation easement; the disaster of the spanish Costa Del Sol will not be repeated here! The Lewis are driven by a vision, and Lapa Rios Ecolodge is a model of Ecotourism project and is featured in many international publications. they received many awards. The buidings are in harmony with the surrounding beach and forest.
